Zoo Miami, which was also formerly known as Miami MetroZoo, is considered to be the oldest and largest zoological garden in the state of Florida. In addition, it is also the only tropical zoo which is located in the continental United States. Therefore, you can pretty much understand how popular and hyped up this tourist attraction is.

It began in 1948 in a very humble and small manner. In fact, you would be surprised to know that this huge park only started off with 3 monkeys, 2 black bears, and a goat. The reason that they were adopted in the first place was because they were stranded. Also, they were only purchased for a mere $270 from a roadside show. Despite its humble beginnings, you can pretty much track their movement up the graph. Over the years, this park continued to grow until they had to relocate. This is because they needed to make space for all the new animals and other species that they had acquired
